Meeting #3 (Draft Land Use Alternatives and Housing Sites)

The General Plan Working Group convened on August 24, 2023, (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm) and provided input on Preliminary Draft Land Use Alternatives. The presentation delivered during the workshop offered an overview of residential and mixed-use densities, the Preliminary Draft Land Use Alternatives, community benefits, and how the City can fulfill the state-required Regional Housing Needs Assessment (accommodate new housing) by implementing the proposed land use changes. Participants shared their feedback on residential densities, infrastructure requirements, the integration of old and new Compton, traffic along corridors, the preservation of urban agricultural areas, challenges related to overcrowding, and the necessity for additional essential commercial and entertainment amenities.

Meeting #2 (Land Use and Housing)

The General Plan Working Group convened on December 1, 2022 (6:00 pm via Zoom) to hear a presentation and allow the Working Group and the public to ask questions and give comments about potential land use and housing changes the City should consider.  The presentation provided an overview of the existing land use and housing conditions in Compton, housing state law requirements, and general land use terminology. This meeting provided a foundation for the December 15 Working Group meeting to discuss Land Use and Housing Preliminary Alternatives.
